Wells Fargo Benefits, Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

What can this tool answer?

Factual questions about the Wells Fargo 401(k) Plan and Wells Fargo Restricted Share Rights (RSRs, also called RSUs). Examples:

  • How does the Wells Fargo 401(k) match work?
  • What’s the vesting schedule on the match?
  • What’s the cheapest fund in the Wells Fargo 401(k)?
  • Can I do a mega backdoor Roth at Wells Fargo?
  • How long do RSRs vest over?
  • What happens to my unvested RSRs if I quit?
  • What tax rate does Wells Fargo withhold on RSU vesting?

If your question is about the Wells Fargo deferred comp plan, pension, health insurance, or life and disability benefits, this tool won’t answer it. Those are out of scope for now.

Where do the answers come from?

Public Wells Fargo documents only. Specifically:

  • Wells Fargo & Company’s most recent annual report on Form 10-K
  • The Wells Fargo 401(k) Plan Summary Plan Description
  • The 2026 Wells Fargo employee benefits summary (“Benefits for you and yours”)
  • The most recent Wells Fargo proxy statement (DEF 14A)

Every answer cites the document it came from. The tool won’t make up plan-specific facts that aren’t in those documents.

Is this Wells Fargo?

No. Calamita Wealth Management is an independent fiduciary registered investment adviser based in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have no affiliation with Wells Fargo. The information here is drawn from Wells Fargo’s public SEC filings and benefits documents, not from any insider knowledge of Wells Fargo’s plans.

Will the tool give me financial advice?

No. The tool explains how Wells Fargo’s plan rules work. It won’t tell you whether to hold or sell your RSRs, whether to contribute Roth or pre-tax, or how much to contribute to your 401(k). Those questions depend on your full financial picture, and answering them well is what a fiduciary financial advisor does.

Is my information private?

The tool doesn’t ask for your name, account number, employee ID, salary, or any other personal detail. Don’t put any of that in your questions. The site does keep a copy of the questions and answers that go through the tool, for accuracy and quality control. Those records don’t include any identifying information about you.

What if I find an answer that looks wrong?

Plan rules change. The tool is updated periodically, but the most current authoritative source is always Wells Fargo HR and your plan documents at my401kplan.wf.com. If you spot something that looks off, email todd@calamitawealth.com.
